A Weekly Word from your Pastor

Faith

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

Remember when you would cross your fingers and hope that whatever you were hoping for would happen. I guess that you would call that a weak faith. You believe in something, but you are not sure about it. You are wishing with all you heart, but not sure.

Sometimes I believe that is the way we think about God. We hope beyond hope that what we have heard all of our life is true, but we are not totally convinced beyond what we know that it is really true. We have faith, but we sure wish we had some proof.

Faith is what makes God excited. He loves to see people who step out in faith with no safety net. He loves to see those who just go at it because they believe God has called them to it.

Consider Abraham. God said leave your family and go to a place that I will show you. God didn’t tell Abraham where that place would be. I can imagine Abraham’s family told him he was crazy to just pick up and leave. God likes it when we take Him at His word.

How about Moses. Moses raise the rod over the sea and see the deliverance of God. Moses could have easily looked out at the sea and said, “No way.” But Moses followed the word of God and the sea parted and all of Israel walked across on dry ground. God likes it when we take Him at His word.

Then there is Joshua. Joshua you will not have to fight to conquer Jericho. Just march around the city for seven days and on the last time around shout and the walls will come tumbling down. Talking about unbelievable. Joshua could have taken a group of soldiers and placed them in strategic places just in case, but he didn’t. And sure enough on that seventh day the seventh time around they shouted and the walls came tumbling down. Imagine what the people were saying about Joshua. He’s lost his mind. God likes it when we take Him at His word.

I could continue on talking about those who took God at His word. All though the Bible men and women followed the words of God and God came through. Oh if we today would just learn about faith. When we really trust and believe we see God do incredible things.

Pastor Josh has been talking a great deal lately about the future of Reedy River. He asked do you believe, have faith, that God can do great things through our church? We have said, Yes! Do we have faith that God can do things great in our midst? Do we really believe that God is waiting for us to believe before we see Him do great things? It will take more than our words before we see God do incredible things in our midst. It will take the action of a church who has Faith!

Remember God likes it when we take Him at His word!!

Dear Lord, help us to stand up and not question the word that you speak through your servants. Help us to have faith that you can do exceedingly more than we think or ask. Help us to get busy preforming the task it takes to see the movement of God in our midst. Help us to take you at your word!! In Jesus name, Amen.
