Paul said in Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.”
Matthew 10: 32-33 “Therefore everyone who will acknowledge me before others, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever denies me before others, I will also deny him before my Father in heaven.
Paul and Matthew are clear that we are not to be Secret Agent Christians. We are to be vocal and visible disciples
Kurt Warner was signed as a third-string quarterback to the St. Louis Rams roster in 1998. In 1999 the Rams starting quarterback was injured and Kurt became the starter. Kurt threw fourteen touchdown passes in his first four games. In 1998, the Rams only threw for 16 touchdown passes the entire season. A reporter asked Warner what led to his success on the field. Warner said “It’s my faith in Jesus Christ.”
That very same year the Rams went on to win Super Bowl XXXIV. Kurt said when he made the decision to go public with his faith in Christ; he was given more opportunities to serve in God’s kingdom.
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:20 “Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making His appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf: “Be reconciled to God.”
What Christians have to say is important and life changing. I pray that God will give us boldness like lions to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Like Kurt Warner, we must be willing to go public with our faith in Christ. Jesus wants us to get out of the huddle and let the world know that we belong to Him.
