“Need an Alarm?”

“For He says, “’In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.’ I tell you now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2

Have you ever woken up to an alarm? I don’t use one much today, but I used to a great deal. Alarm clocks come with a unique button called a snooze button. These buttons are set at different intervals on different clocks. I had one once that when you hit snooze you had 9 minutes before it alarmed again. Some are shorter. Yet when you hit snooze you are actually putting off the inevitable. You have to get up. Why not do it when the alarm goes off. Some people set their clock to go off early so that can hit snooze and feel like they are stealing sleep. Yet even after hitting the snooze multiple time you still have to get up.

I wonder how many times we hit the snooze button when it comes to God. How often do we put off things that we know God wants us to do? Do we put our prayer life on snooze? Do we put our Bible reading on snooze? How about that person that we don’t get along with and God is nudging us to make things right. Are you putting that on snooze?

It is sad that many of us have put our Christian growth on snooze. We have salvation and we know that people talk about growing in the Lord, but we will do it at another time. When we have more time. Yet as we all know “more” time never comes. Some who do not know Jesus are saying they will make that decision later. They just don’t want to give up their lifestyle. Yet, that time never come.

We have put God on snooze for too long. We need to wake up and realize that what God has for us to do is now. We need to know as Paul states, “…now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” We have such a great life that God has purposed for us to live. Yet many of us are not living it because we have it on snooze. Are you interested in getting off snooze and moving on in your Christian growth? If so stop putting off what needs to be done now. Take the time to experience God in new and greater ways. If you need help in where to go or what to look at give Pastor Josh or me a call. Let’s talk about what you want to learn. If you need to take care of some unfinished business then pray and ask God to give you the peace an opportunity to handle the business. God loves you and He wants the best for you. Don’t hit the snooze button on Him.

Dear Jesus, help us to know that today is the day to find favor from you. You are ready and willing to help us all become more of the purpose that you made us to be. Give us the courage to face the hard times by filling us in the good times. We ask all of this in the faithful name of Jesus, Amen
