“Is Your Heavenly Father Proud?”

“The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him.” Proverbs 23:24

I am very blessed. Peggy and I have two sons. You know them as Joshua and Caleb. Joshua was both of our favorite Bible character and that is where Joshua got his name. When Caleb came along we decided that Joshua and Caleb in the Bible were both positive and God fearing men. We decided to name our second son, Caleb.

Now if you want to see me puff up with the big head start me talking about my boys. I tell people all the time that Peggy and I probably made some big mistakes along the way in our life, but one thing we did right was raise two mighty fine boys. I am proud to say that they both are good husbands, good fathers, good workers, but most of all they are both very active in their churches and love God with all their heart. Needless to say, I am proud of both my boys and how they have matured into fine Godly young men. When I think about how they have matured it brings a smile to may face and a good warm feeling in my heart.

Have you ever wondered what God our Father thinks about you? If you are a child of God and accepted Jesus as your Savior, then you are expected to mature in the ways of Jesus. You are to be growing in your faith and becoming more and more like Jesus.

You remember in the book of Job it says they the angels were gathering around and the Father told Satan to take a look at Job. The father was proud of His child. I want my heavenly father to be proud of me. I don’t want my heavenly father to be disappointed or frustrated about how I’m turning out. I want to put a smile on His face and a warm feeling in His heart.

Am I doing what is necessary to put a smile of my heavenly father’s face? Shame on me if I don’t take pride in my heritage. Same on me if I go out and bring my family name down. The Bible says that when I accept Jesus as my Savior that my name is written down in the Book of Life. That I become a child of God.

Listen to the words found in Proverbs 23:24, “The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him.” Is your heavenly father experiencing great joy because of your life? If not why not try to rearrange your life to begin growing and becoming mature in the Lord.

Dear Jesus, help us to make your father proud. Help us to live in accordance with your will and bring glory and honor to you. Help us to make a difference so that others might see the reflection of our heavenly father in us. May our lives reflect the son so the son can glorify the father. In Jesus name, Amen.
